Professor Angelo Riccaboni, Past Rector of the University of Siena, is Full Professor of “Management Control Systems” at the University of Siena. His research has a strong international emphasis, focusing on the topics of Governance and Control and on the role of organizations and universities to promote Sustainable Development.

In addition, Professor Riccaboni chairs the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA) Foundation, an Agency located in Barcelona in charge of implementing a 10-year research and innovation programme on food systems and water resources, with a budget of 500 million euros funded by the European Commission and 19 Euro-Mediterranean Countries. He has also chaired for the CRUI Foundation, the operating body of CRUI (the Association of Italian Rectors) (2014-2016) and has been a Member of the Board of the International Association of Universities (IAU) (2012-2016) and Head of the IAU Working Group on sustainability (2012- 2016).

Previously, Professor Riccaboni was Dean of the Richard Goodwin Faculty of Economics and Management (2005-2010), and President of SIDREA (Italian Society of Accounting and Business Administration Scholars) (2010-2014). From 2016 to 2017 Angelo was a Member of the Board of Auditors for the Bank of Italy. He is currently Member of the Board of Directors of MPS Bank, Member of the Sustainability Board of Edison Italia and Member of the Advisory Board of Carrefour Italia.

Professor Riccaboni was also recently appointed by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research as Coordinator of the group for the new national research plan (PNR) on the theme “Bioeconomy, Food and Blue Growth” for national proposals and strategies and for Horizon Europe 2021-2027.

Professor Riccaboni has also published monographies with international publishing houses such as Kluwer, Routledge and Elgar, and articles in national and international journals, such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Management Accounting Research and Reflections: the Society for Organisational Learning Journal.
